The incident began in Westchester County at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, when troopers attempted to stop a 2021 Nissan Sentra on I-87 in the village of Ardsley and ended in Rockland County in Nyack when the vehicle was stopped by the Orangetown Police on Route 59.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel, after the stop, troopers arrived and interviewed the operator who was identified as Selena Lasco, age 26, and her passenger Javed Duncan, age 23, both of Brooklyn.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and the passenger attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody shortly thereafter, Nevel said.
During the investigation, troopers located two illegal firearms, a stolen license plate and a forged instrument.
Lasco and Duncan were subsequently arrested and charged with the following:
Lasco:
- Criminal possession of stolen property
- Possession of a forged instrument
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Unlawful fleeing a police officer in a vehicle
- Resisting arrest
- Obstruct governmental administration
- Multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions
Duncan:
- Criminal possession of stolen property
- Possession of a forged instrument
- Two counts criminal possession of a weapon
- False personation
- Criminal impersonation
- Unlawful fleeing a police officer in a vehicle
- Resisting arrest
- Obstruct governmental administration
Lasco and Duncan will be seen in the local court on a future date.
